Here’s the perfect Younghusband
Here’s the perfect Younghusband

A handsome face is no assurance of stardom in showbiz.
A successful showbiz career is a result of sheer talent plus luck, good looks and of course, the right handler or talent manager.
Phil Younghusband, no doubt, is star material. GMA-7 was the first to find this half Filipino and half British.
At 21, Phil, is still single and is focused on his career in the entertainment industry.
For sports fan who know phil, his decision to enter showbiz is baffling. This handsome lad is an international athlete who plays for the country’s football squad.
Soon, Phil will be seen in GMA-7’s “Celebrity Duets Season 2” which started airing last night. Phil will pit talents with MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, fashion designer JC Buendia, comedian TV host Joey Marquez, super model turned actress Melanie Marquez, Chef JL lang, beauty queen Carlene Aguilar and lifestyle and Wellness guru Cory Quirino.
“I only sing in the shower. But generally no. everything that I’ve done up now has been around football which is involving very fast movements. So to be on stage singing, working on a slow pace, doing something that I’m interested to see how I do with it,” said Phil.
Visiting the Philippines yearly during the holidays, Phil has been training with the Philippine football team for two and half months. He may have done a couple of magazine pictorials here and there or may have guest appearance in some TV shoes, but joining showbiz was the farthest from his mind.
“I’m really surprised that I’m doing this because all my life I have been playing football. So to be doing something that is a total change of pace is surprising to me,” shared Phil. “But in terms of acting and singing, this is completely new that I’m about to take on. So it would be interesting.”
He has no qualms though when it comes to being s showbiz personality other than being known as a football player.
“If I’m open to showbiz it is because I like to make people happy. Also other than playing football, I’m always watching TV and movies and I also have idols, not only in football but in showbiz such as popular actors in America and around the world. So to do something that would make me happy!”
The Hollywood actors he looks up to are Mark Walhberg, Josh Hartnett, Matt Damon Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christian Bale and Jude Law to name a few.
His musical influences is diverse
“If I feel that it is a good song then I will like it. I have no particular genre and I’m open to all music as long as I find it catchy then I’ll like it. I’m also a big fan pf the English bands such as Oasis and The Beatles,” he said.
Phil said the production team gave him a DVD to watch recently which outlined what goes on
“I’m open to anything within reason in showbiz whether in singing or acting. I prefer to act than sing. But I’m singing now so acting is a possibility in the future. So hopefully things work out well for me in showbiz,” he said.
The irony of Phil’s showbiz adventure is that he has been romantically linked with a number of female linked celebrities like Rhian Ramos even before he was cast as a contestant in “Celebrity Duets 2.” There are more but he’d rather not talk about it being a gentleman. Intrigues and rumors too are what he was prepared for before entering showbiz arena. Although it is flattering to be romantically linked to different celebrities, for him a lot of things that people hear nowadays are exaggerated and not true.
“There’s always going to be rumors and everyone is entitled to their own views and opinion … that’s why I have my manager and publicist Joyce Ramirez because she is well educated in that department. But I really don’t mind the rumors. I’m a Leo so I love attention and for me there’s no such thing as bad publicity as they say. We just have to wait and see,” opined Phil.
